The labyrinth is an ancient way of prayer.
Walking a labyrinth is like taking a tiny pilgrimage that we walk alone with God. It can be an intensely relaxing and releasing experience. It can also be challenging.
We have made a short video, showing you how to make your own labyrinth.
Have you got a small space to make your own patio labyrinth? Instructions for how to draw it are here. As you walk, you might like to say a verse from the bible or a line from a prayer. A good one to start with is, ‘Be still and know that I am God,’ from Psalm 46. Say it again and again to yourself as you walk and let the promise sink into your body and soul.
If you don’t have space to chalk a labyrinth on the ground, you can draw a ‘finger labyrinth’ on a piece of paper and follow it with your finger. Or you could visit the labyrinth at Willen Lake and walk that one. If it’s warm and safe to do so, why not walk barefoot?
